“Gamboling with the Life”, from Echoes of Vietnam Series by Minh Dam

This piece is the first of a set of two paintings that tell the story of a Vietnamese girl going through a difficult, depressive period in her life. In this painting, titled “Gamboling with Life,” she stands on rocks, gazing down at the water as waves crash against her. The rocks symbolize life’s hardships, while the waves represent the challenges we must overcome. She is contemplating a leap into the water, symbolizing her struggle with suicidal thoughts.
