“The Girl by the Guitar”, from Echoes of Vietnam Series by Minh Dam

This friend of mine is from Ha Long. The innocent girl of the coastal town moved to Hanoi in search of knowledge and opportunities, slowly transforming into a strong woman with her feet firmly on the ground. She reminds me of my mother in the past who was born in Ha Long and moved not just to Hanoi but way further, overcoming all circumstances to become a strong and open-minded person as she is today.
